Now I don’t know anyone around second life or even real life that does not enjoy a great and high quality gift from their favorite designers. I know I sure do. But the winter season is still here and I intend to milk it for all it is bloody worth. I can’t deny that the new season is going to be soon upon us but I want to send the winter season off with a bang and really make sure I get my money’s worth. Too many times do I purchase winter season outfits and see them taking up precious space in my inventory as they are never worn or used again until the time comes that I clean out my inventory and suddenly find them.
I know that I’m not the only one that this occurs to but this happens especially often with group gifts that I recieve on a daily basis and never have the time or bother to open and take a look. This is such a shame for those awesome gifts that end up being thrown aside and the talent used to create them goes to waste. But one of my new years resolutions was to change this around and make this a new day. I recently recieved some awesome group gifts from “G Field” and if you have never been here I urge you all to stop by and take a peek at their great designs and amazingly cheap prices that makes a great wardrobe affordable for anyone! I hope that you all enjoy your gifts and know that not all freebies are for noobs! [Winks]

Well today was a pretty slow day. I’m sure we’ve all had one of those moments in our lives when we have absolutely no idea what to do with ourselves and you can’t even find the energy to really veg out on the computer or in front of your television set. Well that’s what I was feeling like today and so my boyfriend really tried to get my hopes up by taking me out shopping and sharing some of his new spots. Needless to say I didn’t really find anything suitable to my tastes until my friend Rev hooked me onto this store Zenith. I decided to give it a try after she promised that I would be ready to buy out the entire store the minute I stepped foot in there and since I’ve only ever felt like that with Leezu’s designs I had to take up the challenge and take a peek.
While I didn’t get the insane urge to drop all my lindens on the outfits in the store but I did find a few pieces that really tempted me to pinch my wallet and make it whine a bit. But I chose a really cute and flirty dress and decided to really punk it up just a bit without going over the top with some sheer fishnet tights and some hot buckle boots from G Field that sales the greatest footwear for such affordable prices that I encourage everyone I see now to go check it out and get at least one pair. This is a major steal!

[Gasps and grunts as she falls on the computer to begin typing, frowning at her pinky hanging by a piece of bone before picking up a nearby stapler and placing it back on. She gives her hand a flex before descending on her poor computer, pounding on the keys hard and fast.] I knew this day would come! I hoped it wouldn’t but I knew it would and silly me they caught me off guard to in the back room after one of my fashion shows. [Shakes her head in disgust] Let me start from the beginning my dear friends and readers. I was just finishing up with a Halloween fashion show when three burly, hairy fat models- yes those witches were as big as my condominium- if I had a condo that is! [Harumphs in satisfaction at the dig and continues] Let me also add they had huge hips that it was a wonder they could make it through the door of the auditorium!
Now as I was saying. These….*bleepin bleeps* (I’m sure kid avi’s probably read this ya know…) dragged me behind the bushes after everyone had left the stadium and proceeded to hold me down- I think one of them actually sat on me with her buick hips but I was having the air crushed from my delicate lungs so I really couldn’t say for sure- and they began to argue on what to do about me. I gleaned a few tidbits as I was huffing and puffing for precious gasps of air. These Bitc…..*bleeps* were jealous! I know what you’re thinking! It’s crazy! [glares at the reader] You do NOT have to agree so readily ya know! But they were jealous of little old humble and sweet me! Now I know I’m a fine specimen and many may be envious of me in some ways but that does not mean that it calls for what they did to me. I won’t go into the gory details so much but I will say that it involved a box cutter, salad fork, two AA batteries, a wedge lime, and a small skinny and long legged rat…On second thought it may have been a chihuahua- I’m beginning to think one of these *bleepity bleeps* was Paris Hilton but don’t quote me on that. As I was said earlier I was running on precious little air supply.
So after they finished their nefarious actions and the skinny rat thing finished humping my foot they left me for dead, never even suspecting that I would survive but look at me now you *bleepers*! I was lucky they had a roller cart nearby- those big rolling carts that you can find at Home depot when you’re been so greedy on your shopping spree that not even a normal shopping cart can hold your crap. After gather my bits and pieces on it I began to roll and push myself to the nearest hospital- 10 miles away!! The doctors looked at me like I was a freak- actually what they really did was laugh when I said I needed to be stitched up again because they thought I was playing some Halloween joke but after beating him and the nurse over the head with with my bloody stump of a leg they finally took me seriously and dragged me to the ER. I have no idea how someone in a few pieces could be playing a joke!
Now after I skipped out on my hospital bill- who would’ve thought 10 yards of string and a needle could cost so much- I had to run to a shop to get some clothes and was lucky enough to get out with this little number! Yes I stole it! (Not really. I couldn’t hobble fast enough and so got caught by the security guard and had to pay him with my last few bills that was stuck in my hair) And now here I am, telling you about my gruesome little story and I pray that those heffers don’t meet up with me one day. Watch out Paris! But it just goes to show you even that couldn’t stop me from rocking this outfit, a cute little number called Charm from the Wishbox along with my gorgeous updo from red Queen.
So now that I have given a long overdue lecture on important business practices in keeping up your appearance let me loosen up. [pulls off her tweed jacket and puts an a shiny new pair of pink shades] What? I did say I was going to get loose! [laughs] As you can see from the photo above I got a brand new suit to spice up my professional wardrobe. As a professional female in the fashion industry it’s expected that one has to have impeccable taste, style and fashion sense. For some this may seem a bit over the top in the way of a suit but to others it could be just the right amount of pizzazz without tripping over into garish and obscenely ostentatious. As you can see from evidence that it has found a very cozy- albeit tight [had to practically force the sucker in there!- home in my inventory.
Let me tell you how much this outfit from Beauty Avatar caught my eye. I hate pink and I don't mean a mild distaste or just not my preference although both of those could apply to what I think of the color but I HATE pink. So on a normal basis this outfit would've gotten nothing but my disdain and an upturned nose as I walked right past it and probably into a wall or door (hard to watch where you're going while your nose is stuck in the air. I should know, tried!) But this outfit got my attention right away which is probably what it was meant to do since it is quite a loud color all on it's own. But coupled with the design of it, it fit perfectly and wasn't as terrible as you would think upon first glance. It took me a few minutes to looking at it to finally understand the point of view the designer was coming from when they created this marvelous piece. Allow me to explain: The color alone is a bold choice and I think anything that was even bolder would've just ruined the entire look that the designer was going for. But this one is just right. The design and cut of the suit is both simple and unique in the fact that the huge black buttons adds some great contrast to this already interesting design. The cut is simple and shows off my figure to perfection, short skirts to highlight my legs (always a good feature for any skirt- a must really) and the stockings add something extra to the mix. Now you can go with or without the stockings; I just wore them so that you may get the full effect of this suit and enjoy it as it was meant to be enoyed. I actually like to stockings as it gives this already clean design a rebel feel to it. It flouts the traditional suit, puts a spin on it and makes it creative and unique while staying within the bounds of good taste and style.
If you're not into the suit and tie or the usual pinstripe pencil skirt and suit jacket maybe this will appeal to the rebel and creative genius in you- I know it did for me. Some earrings, a nice black handbag, popping shoes, or some awesome large framed shades completes the look to a T. Enjoy ladies!
As some have you may have read in a previously written post of mine, I am a businesswoman with the emphasis on woman. I know the politically correct term would be businessperson but I always liked the distinction between men and women and while I can understand the need to blend them together and take away any classifying or identifying features or characteristics I also enjoy being a woman so have no plans on stopping anytime soon. Now as a professional woman in SL there are times that I have to don the traditional blue pinstripe suit with a nice clean bob and practical pumps. It’s hard to be taken seriously if I’m sitting in a business meeting or interview wearing my neko outfit or a barely there dress that is two shakes away from revealing my non-intellectual assets to everyone within camming distance. I do find it sad that there are some people who don’t take the time to put themselves together for a business luncheon or interview. I mean how can you honestly talk about how professional and capable you are when you’re wearing a tell and ears with light up shoes or a pair of shorts and sandals? Would you hire yourself dressed like that? Don’t be biased and answer honestly.
But seeing as this is second life the usual social norms that are held up to standard in RL are relaxed a lot more. Why would you want to dress up for a virtual job? It’s not as important as a RL one so it shouldn’t really matter. It doesn’t matter that the person trying to hire me is shelling out RL USD and paying me for my performance and professionalism. [rolls eyes here] I have seen physical presentation- appearance- make and break deals and job opportunities for many a SLer. Hell I have fired and refused to hire people based just on how they came to the interview. And let me mention that this all happened OUTSIDE the fashion and modeling industry. If it’s that bad in an average job outside of fashion just imagine how more intense it is here. I learned first hand as a model but I also learned what it was like from the corporate standpoint when I helped an old friend get his agency up and running. We would talk about how he got clients and I saw how meticulous he was with not only his appearance but the appearance of his office. Every piece and every outfit was carefully chosen and considered before he bought it or wore it for a certain occasions and that made me respect what other agency owners do and how much thought they really do put behind their business and how they are seen by the public.
I have also seen some girls come to casting so ill prepared it made me wince just to watch them walk down the runway with badly chosen poses to fit the outfit they were wearing, attachments that needed editing, a walk that was as old as SL itself and so much more. Now this may be due to their inexperience in the fashion world and can be excused somewhat because I do know how hard it is to get started with everyone so busy that they can’t spare a moment or two to hand out a bit of kind and constructive advice to new models. I try to give a bit of help when I can without sounding rude or snobbish, although it’s hard- not because I am but because you have to choose your words extremely carefully so as not to bruise some very fragile egos. I always wondered how the egos here could be so fragile but so large but I suppose that is one of those things that will remain a mystery throughout time.
You may see this post as another of my lunatic rants or lectures but it’s not. I like to inform people and give them advice and tips as much as I can. You cannot imagine how many small things we take for granted within second life without realizing it or understanding why. Why do we feel that because this is a virtual world that our words of committment mean less than those made in real? I’m sure many of you know what I speak of when I mention this. You’ll make an appointment or you’ll commit to a rehearsal when you’re not as sure of your availability as you let on and then suddenly what you were HOPING wouldn’t interfere finally does on the big day of the show and you leave them one model short. Real comes first, we all have heard this mantra several times before and I, myself, use it on a daily basis. I make sure that through whatever committment that I make in anything on second life that they know that it will always come first. But that doesn’t mean that I do not try to be there on time and do my best to make my deadline. I just hate to see when a person is 1 hour late and completely unapologetic that they have inconvenienced an entire room of people by their absence. They look around and wonder why people begrudge them and mutter obscenities under their breaths; I have never done such a thing [coughs] but I have seen it.
So be sure to take the time out of your schedule to get truly prepared when doing business in second life. This may be a virtual world but it deserves the same quality and thought you would give in any other business in real. It may take an hour- in my case two [laughs] but it all pays off in the end when your reputation begins to preceed you for your quality performance and appearance. I’ll off with two sayings and while they may be cliched they are very true and carry enough wisdom to rival yoda. “People don’t hire a resume, they are hiring you through your ability to present yourself. If that weren’t true then we wouldn’t really need interviews would we?”
Dress for the job you want, not the one you are applying for!
This has been your local friendly reminder and informational broadcast. We are now returning to your normal broadcast station. Have a great day!
The Outfit: Nicky Ree’s Daria Jacket Suit in red, Diamond Pendant Necklace from Armidi, Armidi’s The short V hairstyle.
As a businesswoman in Second Life it’s important for me to house the sensual sex kitten and bring out the strong, conservative female. But as I looked around for nice suits that showed my femininity and made me look capable I didn’t see any that really suited to my style or the look I wanted to go for so I housed the suit search for a while. That was until Nicky Ree came out with her newest collection, which she released two days ago.
I probably wouldn’t have bought this outfit if it had been in any other color because while the design and quality of the fabric is fabulous, the red of it just puts it in the bag for me. I was on the fence on whether I should wait to see if there was something more but I realized soon enough that this was a deal that I had to jump on before the prices rose or that it was taken out of stock. [Laughs]
Besides the color of the jacket, the detail on the prims drew me as well and encouraged me to break out my purse to shell out the cash for this great suit. The fabric is intricately designed with various styles but more notably is the different modes of stripes running through it which adds to the texture. The buttons look as if they are pure rubies surrounded by a beautiful frame of black that keeps it simple and doesn’t take away from the overall feel of the dress. The swoop pockets were fabulous and not much is needed with this outfit except a black bag or suitcase and a simple jewelry to keep within the style.
Now this beautifully created suit is not the only creation that was debuted. There were several others that caught my eye and nearly got my purse if my common sense didn’t come by and slap me upside the head!
This outfit immediately caught my eye after I was able to drag myself away from my new and shiny suit. I can see a bit of the fall season in it with the beautifully layered skirt, which gives it a soft flowing feel and that has always been what fall was to me. It’s a lazy part of the year where things are transitioning and changes are taking place gradually with soft yet vibrant colors. While the color seems a bit more spring to my eyes the design is definitely of a fall nature and this is a dress I think should occupy every fashionable girl’s inventory for a romantic ballroom evening with that special loved one.
Now I am a firm believer and staunch supporter of Designs by Nicky Ree. Let’s face it, anyone who has ever had the pleasure of walking through her store and browsing her numerous elegantly created designs would all agree I’m sure. If they don’t then they probably don’t like formal attire or have no fashion sense whatsoever. But I digress, I love her designs but there were one or two in her newest collection that made me wonder, “What the heck inspired this?!” That’s not to be rude but some of them just reminded me of some Halloween custom that someone decided to wear to a ball, or a long ago prom dress that someone tried to dress up and take to the red carpet. I won’t deny that the intricate designs on these outfits or the it’s high quality and attention to detail is fabulous and without question. But I will say that it’s not something I see anyone buying and taking to the VMAs. Compared to her other work this dress just doesn’t measure up to her usual standards and ingenuity. Do I seem harsh? I can tell you it’s certainly not as harsh as I could be so I suppose that’s something to be happy about. I just have one question about this outfit: “What were you thinking Nicky Ree??”
Well another day and another dollar spent on the usual clothes, shoes, hair, accessories, basically anything that my eyes landed on. I know what everyone is thinking right about now if any of you have read any of my previous posts and articles: “This lady has serious issues and needs some professional help. preferably a shrink that specializes in shopaholic syndrome because she’s about to go into shopping spree meltdown.” But NO I am not as shopping crazed as I may seem to the average reader, I’m more what is commonly called a fashion addict and I can assure you all that I don’t have a problem.
Now enough of my digressing! It’s time to talk about something that is sure to convert even the most stingiest and budgeting female on the Second Life grid into a overspending shopaholic – or fashion addict. I was recently perusing several second life blogs when I came across a designer who’s photos just urged me to pop over and check out the her designs in person! Ranena Olivier Couture is classy, chic and oh so elegant that I just couldn’t resist and I’m sure others fell into the same rabbit hole!
The outfit that sent me over to her shop was her Ivory pant outfit which was so luscious and the style was clean, sensual while being conservative and dressy at the same time. I’ve never been a ball gown type- lags me WAY too much- but I love to get dressed up for a romantic night on the town with some unnamed sweety just as much as the next girl and I don’t want to crash while doing it. Wearing a huge and heavy ballgown is a sure way to get the boot from SL but Ranena’s Ivory pant outfit is a great alternative to those that have the same problem I do. I will also be the first to admit that I’ve never been a pants type of girl in second life. My friends- and fans [coughs]- will usually find me in some type of skirt, whether dressy or casual it never really matters. I wear pants all the time in RL and being in second life I love wearing the skirts that I could never pull off in RL as I’m sure many other women- and men- do. The lace on the chest and the ruffles around the arms gives the pant suit a much needed softening which makes it perfect for romantic evenings.
Another dress that caught my attention- although sadly I could not buy it with my meager left over lindens- was the Jessica dress. Not sure why it’s just called “Jessica” because the name doesn’t seem as if it’s quite big enough for the dress itself. When looking at the dress you never think, “Oh that gown just screams ‘Jessica’!” So I have to question what was in the designers mind when this creation came to her. Perhaps the dress was a custom job for some important customer or this “Jessica” was the all important inspiration for this design. Either way it just doesn’t suit. But again I digress so allow me to get back on track! The dress just screams natural sexuality and red hot passion that cannot be tamed. This is an outfit that you wear when you are out on the prowl and ready to pick up your unsuspecting prey. This is a designer that I just HAVE to recommend to all fashion conscious females prowling and stalking those poor designers. [Laughs] Enjoy girls!

In one of my many jaunts across the countless shopping districts littering the second life grid that caters to the numerous other fashion addicts like myself, I came across an outfit that simply stole my breath away the moment my eyes gazed upon it. It was sleek, chic, and truly fashionable. It had a flair to it that just screamed high quality and the prims that went along with the dress were well placed and didn’t overwhelm the outfit as one might think upon first glance. I’m talking about LeeZu’s Natascha Black Flexi Dress. This dress was simple yet had a touch of sass and style that was undeniable to even the most critical fashionista and fashion critique! The dress is modifiable of course so that you can adjust the prims to better fit and suit your avatar shape and contours. I was worried that the skirt would be a bit to short to wear along with my avatar- one of my shapes is tall with long legs- but the worry was completely unfounded!
The shoulder prims look as if they may overpower the outfit and make it look cheap and tacky rather than simple and chic but once on your avatar and stylized with the right hair and a few simple accessories and shoes, or maybe knee high black boots, it looks simply wonderful. It flatters my shape by drawing attention to my small waist and the shortness of the skirt shows off my legs beautifully without being vulgar or having any touch of the “tramp look”. I decided to dress it up with some nice heels by Annex and, as you can see, I’m ready for a night on the town with some girlfriends or with a special date at a nice and classy restaurant.
