The Eccentric Sophisticate

SophisticatedSo now that I have given a long overdue lecture on important business practices in keeping up your appearance let me loosen up. [pulls off her tweed jacket and puts an a shiny new pair of pink shades] What? I did say I was going to get loose! [laughs] As you can see from the photo above I got a brand new suit to spice up my professional wardrobe. As a professional female in the fashion industry it’s expected that one has to have impeccable taste, style and fashion sense. For some this may seem a bit over the top in the way of a suit but to others it could be just the right amount of pizzazz without tripping over into garish and obscenely ostentatious. As you can see from evidence that it has found a very cozy- albeit tight [had to practically force the sucker in there!- home in my inventory.

Let me tell you how much this outfit from Beauty Avatar caught my eye. I hate pink and I don't mean a mild distaste or just not my preference although both of those could apply to what I think of the color but I HATE pink. So on a normal basis this outfit would've gotten nothing but my disdain and an upturned nose as I walked right past it and probably into a wall or door (hard to watch where you're going while your nose is stuck in the air. I should know, tried!) But this outfit got my attention right away which is probably what it was meant to do since it is quite a loud color all on it's own. But coupled with the design of it, it fit perfectly and wasn't as terrible as you would think upon first glance. It took me a few minutes to looking at it to finally understand the point of view the designer was coming from when they created this marvelous piece. Allow me to explain: The color alone is a bold choice and I think anything that was even bolder would've just ruined the entire look that the designer was going for. But this one is just right. The design and cut of the suit is both simple and unique in the fact that the huge black buttons adds some great contrast to this already interesting design. The cut is simple and shows off my figure to perfection, short skirts to highlight my legs (always a good feature for any skirt- a must really) and the stockings add something extra to the mix. Now you can go with or without the stockings; I just wore them so that you may get the full effect of this suit and enjoy it as it was meant to be enoyed. I actually like to stockings as it gives this already clean design a rebel feel to it. It flouts the traditional suit, puts a spin on it and makes it creative and unique while staying within the bounds of good taste and style.

If you're not into the suit and tie or the usual pinstripe pencil skirt and suit jacket maybe this will appeal to the rebel and creative genius in you- I know it did for me. Some earrings, a nice black handbag, popping shoes, or some awesome large framed shades completes the look to a T. Enjoy ladies!

Tripping into Fall…

SemiCasualThe Outfit: Armidi’s Gisaci Classic Boucle Ash Sweater, Journey Tweed Slacks, Plum Mimi Coat from LeLutka, Au Di Leather Belt, Athena Pearl earrings from Caroline, Diamond Pendant Necklace (Armidi), Armidi’s Daila Pump, and Zuri from Diversity Hair.

The fall season is here and summer wear is out so it was about time for me to get into the mood of things by going out to spice up my wardrobe with a few choice items that just screamed Autumn and Fall. It took me a while to find these pieces or rather to find pieces that fit together so well- two days to be exact [laughs]- but I pulled it off in record time I think. At times I can take up to weeks to complete a new look because I can never make up my mind and am always flipping back and forth to make the best possible look with what I have. As a model I’m very nearly always broke- yes you heard me. Models are broke. We do not make bank in this industry and if I popped your bubble then I guess it’s for the best so that you didn’t walk around with those misguided delusions anymore. But back to my shopping hunt of the past few days.

I’m not a fall type of person, never have been really and I couldn’t tell you why. Maybe it’s the small subtleties of this  period in the season that I didn’t understand on how to incorporate with my own style. I’m not very subtle but I figured it was time to learn something new. I’m an extremist to the core- hot or cold, sad or happy, loving or hating your guts [although I rarely hate people. hehe]- so the fall fashions took me time to learn and to catch on. Yes that’s right; This fashion diva you see before you didn’t know diddly squat about fall fashion sense or how to work this season and it was something I had to learn. So to all those that say that a sense of fashion is something you’re born with well I can tell you here and now that you’re wrong. Women do serious research into their outfits and it’s tiring to hear men and even some women say that they just can’t do it. It’s not that they can’t, it’s that they won’t put the time and effort into it. It can take me days to pick out one outfit and then the small pieces like jewelry, hair and shoes to complete it. So if you think you have no fashion, don’t be discouraged lovelies; there’s hope for you yet!

I knew that I wanted to go for a fall look and I decided not to look at other fashion blogs or talk to anyone else and test myself on whether or not I could pull it off from the things I have learned thus far in this industry. I think I did pretty well to be honest! I started off with a nice pair of slacks- I knew that I wanted to have a dressy casual look that didn’t involve me twirling in a skirt so I found these wonderfully detailed slacks from Armidi. While I was there I decided to take a look around and see what inspiration I could come up with from the various designs painting the walls- or rather the website in my case (I HATE Armidi lag- I compare it to the anti-christ. hehe). As I browsed around I came across this great Ash sweater that hit the tweed slacks just right. I was tempted to go with a gold tone to match the shoes I had in mind but I couldn’t find a toned down version of the one they had so I went with this. The shirt was a bit high waisted but coupled with the belt to hide that little misfortune and a crisis was diverted. [Grins]

Now that I had the basics of my look it was time to head out and add the final details that would just completely make the look. I looked through their jackets but couldn’t find anything that really suit so I moved on to the smaller details. And that’s when I came across these marvelous gold pumps that I just had to have- mainly because I need to update my shoe inventory and it went perfectly with the image I was trying to replicate in my mind. The necklace is a casual piece and the silver matches the color of my hair band. After hours and half a day of searching I came across this beautifully designed coat from LeLutka and I had completed my goal. This is a great look to kick off the fall season and you could even add a nice black or gold purse to it to cap everything off and give it a bit extra flavor.

Business: My Pleasure…

BusinessThe Outfit: Nicky Ree’s Daria Jacket Suit in red, Diamond Pendant Necklace from Armidi, Armidi’s The short V hairstyle.

As a businesswoman in Second Life it’s important for me to house the sensual sex kitten and bring out the strong, conservative female. But as I looked around for nice suits that showed my femininity and made me look capable I didn’t see any that really suited to my style or the look I wanted to go for so I housed the suit search for a while. That was until Nicky Ree came out with her newest collection, which she released two days ago.

I probably wouldn’t have bought this outfit if it had been in any other color because while the design and quality of the fabric is fabulous, the red of it just puts it in the bag for me. I was on the fence on whether I should wait to see if there was something more but I realized soon enough that this was a deal that I had to jump on before the prices rose or that it was taken out of stock. [Laughs]

Besides the color of the jacket, the detail on the prims drew me as well and encouraged me to break out my purse to shell out the cash for this great suit. The fabric is intricately designed with various styles but more notably is the different modes of stripes running through it which adds to the texture. The buttons look as if they are pure rubies surrounded by a beautiful frame of black that keeps it simple and doesn’t take away from the overall feel of the dress. The swoop pockets were fabulous and not much is needed with this outfit except a black bag or suitcase and a simple jewelry to keep within the style.

Now this beautifully created suit is not the only creation that was debuted. There were several others that caught my eye and nearly got my purse if my common sense didn’t come by and slap me upside the head!

This outfit immediately caught my eye after I was able to drag myself away from my new and shiny suit. I can see a bit of the fall season in it with the beautifully layered skirt, which gives it a soft flowing feel and that has always been what fall was to me. It’s a lazy part of the year where things are transitioning and changes are taking place gradually with soft yet vibrant colors.  While the color seems a bit more spring to my eyes the design is definitely of a fall nature and this is a dress I think should occupy every fashionable girl’s inventory for a romantic ballroom evening with that special loved one.

Now I am a firm believer and staunch supporter of Designs by Nicky Ree. Let’s face it, anyone who has ever had the pleasure of walking through her store and browsing her numerous elegantly created designs would all agree I’m sure. If they don’t then they probably don’t like formal attire or have no fashion sense whatsoever. But I digress, I love her designs but there were one or two in her newest collection that made me wonder, “What the heck inspired this?!” That’s not to be rude but some of them just reminded me of some Halloween custom that someone decided to wear to a ball, or a long ago prom dress that someone tried to dress up and take to the red carpet. I won’t deny that the intricate designs on these outfits or the it’s high quality and attention to detail is fabulous and without question. But I will say that it’s not something I see anyone buying and taking to the VMAs. Compared to her other work this dress just doesn’t measure up to her usual standards and ingenuity. Do I seem harsh? I can tell you it’s certainly not as harsh as I could be so I suppose that’s something to be happy about. I just have one question about this outfit: “What were you thinking Nicky Ree??”

Ranena Olivier Couture

Well another day and another dollar spent on the usual clothes, shoes, hair, accessories, basically anything that my eyes landed on. I know what everyone is thinking right about now if any of you have read any of my previous posts and articles: “This lady has serious issues and needs some professional help. preferably a shrink that specializes in shopaholic syndrome because she’s about to go into shopping spree meltdown.” But NO I am not as shopping crazed as I may seem to the average reader, I’m more what is commonly called a fashion addict and I can assure you all that I don’t have a problem.

Now enough of my digressing! It’s time to talk about something that is sure to convert even the most stingiest and budgeting female on the Second Life grid into a overspending shopaholic – or fashion addict. I was recently perusing several second life blogs when I came across a designer who’s photos just urged me to pop over and check out the her designs in person! Ranena Olivier Couture is classy, chic and oh so elegant that I just couldn’t resist and I’m sure others fell into the same rabbit hole!

Ivory_001The outfit that sent me over to her shop was her Ivory pant outfit which was so luscious and the style was clean, sensual while being conservative and dressy at the same time. I’ve never been a ball gown type- lags me WAY too much- but I love to get dressed up for a romantic night on the town with some unnamed sweety just as much as the next girl and I don’t want to crash while doing it. Wearing a huge and heavy ballgown is a sure way to get the boot from SL but Ranena’s Ivory pant outfit is a great alternative to those that have the same problem I do. I will also be the first to admit that I’ve never been a pants type of girl in second life. My friends- and fans [coughs]- will usually find me in some type of skirt, whether dressy or casual it never really matters. I wear pants all the time in RL and being in second life I love wearing the skirts that I could never pull off in RL as I’m sure many other women- and men- do. The lace on the chest and the ruffles around the arms gives the pant suit a much needed softening which makes it perfect for romantic evenings.

Jessica_001Another dress that caught my attention- although sadly I could not buy it with my meager left over lindens- was the Jessica dress. Not sure why it’s just called “Jessica” because the name doesn’t seem as if it’s quite big enough for the dress itself. When looking at the dress you never think, “Oh that gown just screams ‘Jessica’!” So I have to question what was in the designers mind when this creation came to her. Perhaps the dress was a custom job for some important customer or this “Jessica” was the all important inspiration for this design. Either way it just doesn’t suit. But again I digress so allow me to get back on track! The dress just screams natural sexuality and red hot passion that cannot be tamed. This is an outfit that you wear when you are out on the prowl and ready to pick up your unsuspecting prey. This is a designer that I just HAVE to recommend to all fashion conscious females prowling and stalking those poor designers. [Laughs] Enjoy girls!

Fashion Addict's Paradise

As anyone who has read any of my previous posts on this blog, it’s obvious that I can be quite cautious with my meager amount of Lindens unless I see something that is amazingly high quality and something I just can’t live without. As a female I know that there are many women who say that on a daily basis every time they walk past a store but I probably only do such things twice a week, three times at the most! [Grins] So I was browsing around and searching for more top design stores as I like to do when I’m in a bored and lazy mood when I came across Le.Look, an amazing mall that has it all- menswear, women’s wear, dresses, skirts, casuals, accessories, jewelry, etc. Now I know what you may be thinking, how does this mall differ from the thousands of malls that litter the grid with their many vendors that populate it? Well this is a model and fashion addict’s paradise and I don’t say that lightly! It had everything that one might need to update their wardrobe with some new stylish choice pieces that would just put your fashion senses over the edge.

When I teleported into the mall I was stunned with the entire look of the mall. It was chic, modern, clean, stylish and everything that I could wish for in a shopping center. The style, layout, and detail made me want to stay there upon hours and hours just looking at the stores, not the clothes mind you but the stores alone! But after I picked my tongue off the ground and rolled it back into my mouth I set out to take a look at this magical new world and what all that it had to offer and I’m so glad I wasn’t disappointed. Store after store held the names of Second Life’s top designers such as [LeeZu!], Vista Animations (model poses galore), LeLutka, Aoharu, Calypso Giano, :ROZOREGALIA:, and so much more. This is a place of utter temptation for those that are really in need of rehab. [Laughs] It’s also not for those that are tight with their budget but I believe there is always a time to let loose, just don’t let it put you in the hole! I will admit that I left with arms laden with bags upon bags of purchases from my “window shopping” ventures and while I may regret it later, instant gratification can be wonderful! It’s a place I recommend to both men and women to check out and enjoy. Be sure to take a friend along to be the voice of reason when you get the urge to make that wallet/purse cry! [Laughs]

High Fashion Rebel without a Cause…

LeeZu4I personally believe that all women have a bit of sex kitten in them. You know what I mean girls- the sexy, sensual side that loves nothing more than to dress in those short skirts or shorts, thigh contouring pants, and cute tops that show just a HINT of midriff. If you haven’t had the urge then you are long overdue! I came across this one outfit in one my many jaunts across the second life fahion grid and despite the cost (L$ 600 or so I believe) I just couldn’t resist and decided it was high time I splurge a little on myself. Having a budget is fine and dandy and even neccessary if you don’t want to find yourself in debt, but every now and again a girl just has to let go and live a little. Buy one of those amazingly high priced pumps you’ve been dying to try on for ages! You saved your buns off and it’s time to reap the rewards.

Now on to this nice little number here! This is LeeZu!’s Au revoir de Sade Jacket coupled with her Zlema Black Hotpants. Now, these are two separate items that I felt looked fabulous together. It gave that mysterious and haute couture look while adding to the sex kitten within me. I love showing off my legs and and sometimes even my midriff when the time calls for it- bikinis, lingerie, and other unmentionables. [Giggles] This outfit fit my style perfectly. It has a bit of eccentric essence to it that I just absolutely love and adore! As you can see the jacket has perfectly designed and detailed prims for the color and latches that closes the collar around my neck. Not only are the prims beautifully detailed but so is the fabric of the jacket itself. It’s patterend as you can see and comes in a variety of colors that one can choose from when purchasing including black, tan, red, and so much more. And this jacket is not just for women but men as well! With every purchase you get a male and female version of the jacket- why she decided to sell it this way I will never know but it’s certainly nice to see that she has a nice selection for men as well. So guys don’t be afraid to show off those six packs! You definitely earned it after all those nights at the gym! The hotpants are scandalously short, which appealed to the rebel inside of me right away. The detailing on the front of the pants are impeccable and I can’t say I have seen better craftsmanship thus far as with LeeZu!’s designs. Definitely an outfit that has recieved my firm and happy seal of approval!

Revenge never looked so Good!

It’s time for me to talk about a designer and store that it is close to my heart – although that can be said for many other stores as well so please do not despair designers! I came across this particular store during on of my many shopping hunts one day and I’m so thankful that I was made aware of this store! She Wants [Revenge] is definitely not for the faint of heart or those that are into the conservative look. This designer appealed to the sexy rebel in me and not only that, they regularly give out gifts to all their group members- quality gifts! I’m sure there are many stores out there that give out freebies to their group members, most of the time things that have not sold as well as the believed it would but these outfits are specially made for gifts and the designer truly puts thought into what she gives out. Not only that but she has an awesome affiliate vendor program for those that want a little extra L$ in their pockets and help spread the word about these wonderful designs! I’m proud to say I’m one of those many affiliates. [Smiles]

They have everything from dresses, latex, pant outfits, lingerie, to shoes. These outfits are definitely not for those that are afraid of color and the extreme and dramatic look. Whenever I wear one of her outfits I feel daring, sexy, and ready to paint the town red along with a different array of colors! The seams of each outfit are perfect and there are none of those unseemly glitches that you would get with other outfits. If you are looking for something unique that will never fit the mold then She Wants [Revenge] is just for you! Pictures to come soon so stay tuned. Hopefully I have your curiosity piqued. [Grins]
