So now that I have given a long overdue lecture on important business practices in keeping up your appearance let me loosen up. [pulls off her tweed jacket and puts an a shiny new pair of pink shades] What? I did say I was going to get loose! [laughs] As you can see from the photo above I got a brand new suit to spice up my professional wardrobe. As a professional female in the fashion industry it’s expected that one has to have impeccable taste, style and fashion sense. For some this may seem a bit over the top in the way of a suit but to others it could be just the right amount of pizzazz without tripping over into garish and obscenely ostentatious. As you can see from evidence that it has found a very cozy- albeit tight [had to practically force the sucker in there!- home in my inventory.
The Outfit: Armidi’s Gisaci Classic Boucle Ash Sweater, Journey Tweed Slacks, Plum Mimi Coat from LeLutka, Au Di Leather Belt, Athena Pearl earrings from Caroline, Diamond Pendant Necklace (Armidi), Armidi’s Daila Pump, and Zuri from Diversity Hair.
The Outfit: Nicky Ree’s Daria Jacket Suit in red, Diamond Pendant Necklace from Armidi, Armidi’s The short V hairstyle.
This outfit immediately caught my eye after I was able to drag myself away from my new and shiny suit. I can see a bit of the fall season in it with the beautifully layered skirt, which gives it a soft flowing feel and that has always been what fall was to me. It’s a lazy part of the year where things are transitioning and changes are taking place gradually with soft yet vibrant colors. While the color seems a bit more spring to my eyes the design is definitely of a fall nature and this is a dress I think should occupy every fashionable girl’s inventory for a romantic ballroom evening with that special loved one.
Now I am a firm believer and staunch supporter of Designs by Nicky Ree. Let’s face it, anyone who has ever had the pleasure of walking through her store and browsing her numerous elegantly created designs would all agree I’m sure. If they don’t then they probably don’t like formal attire or have no fashion sense whatsoever. But I digress, I love her designs but there were one or two in her newest collection that made me wonder, “What the heck inspired this?!” That’s not to be rude but some of them just reminded me of some Halloween custom that someone decided to wear to a ball, or a long ago prom dress that someone tried to dress up and take to the red carpet. I won’t deny that the intricate designs on these outfits or the it’s high quality and attention to detail is fabulous and without question. But I will say that it’s not something I see anyone buying and taking to the VMAs. Compared to her other work this dress just doesn’t measure up to her usual standards and ingenuity. Do I seem harsh? I can tell you it’s certainly not as harsh as I could be so I suppose that’s something to be happy about. I just have one question about this outfit: “What were you thinking Nicky Ree??”
The outfit that sent me over to her shop was her Ivory pant outfit which was so luscious and the style was clean, sensual while being conservative and dressy at the same time. I’ve never been a ball gown type- lags me WAY too much- but I love to get dressed up for a romantic night on the town with some unnamed sweety just as much as the next girl and I don’t want to crash while doing it. Wearing a huge and heavy ballgown is a sure way to get the boot from SL but Ranena’s Ivory pant outfit is a great alternative to those that have the same problem I do. I will also be the first to admit that I’ve never been a pants type of girl in second life. My friends- and fans [coughs]- will usually find me in some type of skirt, whether dressy or casual it never really matters. I wear pants all the time in RL and being in second life I love wearing the skirts that I could never pull off in RL as I’m sure many other women- and men- do. The lace on the chest and the ruffles around the arms gives the pant suit a much needed softening which makes it perfect for romantic evenings.
Another dress that caught my attention- although sadly I could not buy it with my meager left over lindens- was the Jessica dress. Not sure why it’s just called “Jessica” because the name doesn’t seem as if it’s quite big enough for the dress itself. When looking at the dress you never think, “Oh that gown just screams ‘Jessica’!” So I have to question what was in the designers mind when this creation came to her. Perhaps the dress was a custom job for some important customer or this “Jessica” was the all important inspiration for this design. Either way it just doesn’t suit. But again I digress so allow me to get back on track! The dress just screams natural sexuality and red hot passion that cannot be tamed. This is an outfit that you wear when you are out on the prowl and ready to pick up your unsuspecting prey. This is a designer that I just HAVE to recommend to all fashion conscious females prowling and stalking those poor designers. [Laughs] Enjoy girls!
I personally believe that all women have a bit of sex kitten in them. You know what I mean girls- the sexy, sensual side that loves nothing more than to dress in those short skirts or shorts, thigh contouring pants, and cute tops that show just a HINT of midriff. If you haven’t had the urge then you are long overdue! I came across this one outfit in one my many jaunts across the second life fahion grid and despite the cost (L$ 600 or so I believe) I just couldn’t resist and decided it was high time I splurge a little on myself. Having a budget is fine and dandy and even neccessary if you don’t want to find yourself in debt, but every now and again a girl just has to let go and live a little. Buy one of those amazingly high priced pumps you’ve been dying to try on for ages! You saved your buns off and it’s time to reap the rewards.
